The first place Minnesota Timberwolves probably thought they were going to get an easy win at home on Tuesday night as they hosted the Washington Wizards. The Wizards are one of the worst teams in the NBA this season, but they gave the Timberwolves a good fight. Luckily for Minnesota, they have Anthony Edwards.
Anthony Edwards was masterful on Tuesday night and he led the Timberwolves to a 130-121 win over the Wizards. Washington put up a great fight, but Edwards was too much as he dropped a career-high 51 points.
Edwards finished the game 17-29 from the floor and he was 6-13 from deep. If he didn’t have such a big game, the Timberwolves could’ve easily lost this one, and head coach Chris Finch knows that.
“We needed all of them, for sure,” Finch said in regard to Edwards’ threes, according to an article from NBA.com. “The best thing about it for me was they came in the flow. He kept making the right play down the stretch for the most part. He was really finding people. Guys were knocking down shots, too. He was aggressive getting to the hoop. I thought he turned the game around, along with Nickeil, in getting to the basket.”
Every last game is crucial for Anthony Edwards and the Timberwolves right now as they fight for first place in the Western Conference. They are currently tied for first with the Denver Nuggets, and the two teams are playing each other on Wednesday night. There are just two more games after Wednesday for each team, so that game is a crucial one.
