The Boston Celtics have been far and away the best team in the Eastern Conference this season as there is no one close to them in the standings. On Tuesday night, however, they found themselves trailing big on the road against the Milwaukee Bucks. The Celtics are typically the team that has a big lead, so it was a unique experience for them.
After a valiant comeback effort, the Celtics did fall on the road to the Bucks 104-91, but they found a way to learn from it after the game. Losing is never fun, but Boston already has the one seed locked up. It could be good for them to be in these situations with the playoffs looming.
“I think it’s good for us to be in a bunch of different situations,” Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla said, according to an article from NBA.com. “That was the first time that a game wasn’t going our way since… I don’t remember when. So to me, it was a good opportunity to just play through that – find different ways to create runs, find different ways to just build stuff on either end of the floor. So I thought it was a good situation for us to be in because we hadn’t seen it in a while.”
At the end of the day, these final games don’t matter at all for the Celtics. They have known for awhile that they are going to be the one seed, and right now, their focus is on trying to find a way to produce some postseason success.
