Devin Booker has spent his entire nine-year career with the Phoenix Suns. The 13th overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft has established himself as one of the top scorers in the league. Furthermore, he has made four All-Star Teams, one All-NBA Team, and helped lead the franchise to their third NBA Finals appearance in 2020-21.

Despite this, Bill Simmons recently proposed that the Suns move on from Booker. Speaking on his self-titled podcast, The Ringer founder suggested the New Orleans Pelicans as a destination, stating:

[Mat] Ishbia and whoever’s in his inner circle and they’re like let’s call New Orleans. [David] Griffin answers and he says, ‘CJ McCollum and Trey Murphy, and throw us two future picks and you can have Booker’.

Kevin O’Connor responded that the package is nowhere near enough for Booker. He added that, if the Suns were to move on from their star guard, they would likely ask for five first-round picks. While Phoenix has struggled during the regular season and postseason, Booker is 27 years old and in the midst of his prime. He averaged 27.1 points, 4.5 rebounds, 6.9 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.4 blocks per game while shooting 49.2% from the field, 36.4% from three-point range and 88.6% from the free-throw line.

Devin Booker believes the Phoenix Suns can come back despite 0-2 hole

Devin Booker and the Phoenix Suns have fallen into a 0-2 hole in their first round series against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Despite this, the four-time All-Star cautioned fans not to give up on the team, stating:

Don’t count us out. It’s a series for a reason. I don’t think any road team has won so far. I know that doesn’t have anything to do with us, but it’s just the situation that it is.

Kevin Durant chimed in, adding:

Can’t give up on us right now! Shit, need it more than anything. I know it’s been a disappointing last couple games, even the season for our fans, but we need you more than ever now coming back home for Game 3.

The Suns will have to win four out of the next five games to advance to the second round. While they have three elite scorers – in Booker, Durant and Bradley Beal – the team has plenty of issues elsewhere. Furthermore, Phoenix could be without Grayson Allen, who aggravated his ankle injury in Game 2 and did not return.
