Jaylen Brown was in attendance for the Boston Celtics 88-74 NBA Summer League victory over the Los Angeles Lakers. Bronny James’ struggles continued as he finished with two points, three rebounds and one assist while shooting 1-5 from the field and 0-3 from three-point range.
The NBA Finals MVP, who was joined by Kysre Gondrezick and Angel Reese, was seemingly caught on camera claiming that the 55th overall pick of the 2024 NBA Draft is not NBA ready. In footage shared by NBCS Boston, he appeared to state:
I don’t think Bronny is a pro.
Gondrezick seemingly responded that he would spend the year in the G League leading Brown to claim:
I don’t think so. I think because of his name he’ll be on the Lakers.
While Bronny has struggled during his first taste of professional basketball, the Lakers plan has reportedly always been to have him spend his first season in the G League. The franchise drew some criticism when they selected him in the second round of the draft.
The former four-star prospect in the 2023 recruiting class had the start of his college career derailed after suffering cardiac arrest last summer. After missing the first eight games of the season, he returned to the floor in December. In 25 games, he averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.2 blocks in 19.3 minutes per game while shooting 36.6% from the field, 26.7% from three-point range and 67.6% from the free-throw line.

After footage spread of Jaylen Brown discussing Bronny James, the Boston Celtics star took to clear the air. The three-time All-Star responded by claiming:
It’s a flex to have your son alongside you in the nba it reflects greatness and longevity !Bronny has all the tools around him to be successful I look forward to watching his growth
Bronny will team up with his father, LeBron James, on the Los Angeles Lakers. While he is expected to spend most of his time developing in the G League, the father-son duo will make history when the latter makes his NBA debut. They will become the first father-son duo to share the court – as teammates or otherwise.
