Jayson Tatum was able to help lead the Boston Celtics to their 18th championship in franchise history. In seven seasons in the NBA, the five-time All-Star has established himself as one of the league’s premier players. He recently expressed an interest in spending his entire career in Boston.

Speaking with Adam Himmelsbach of The Boston Globe, Tatum stated:

For me just to feel wanted, and they want me to be here and want me for the long haul. I’ll spend my whole career here and have got nothing but love for the fans, the city, and the organization. You know, we just won a championship and I want to try to win as many as I can. [h/t The Boston Globe]

Tatum has spent his entire career with Boston after being drafted third overall in the 2017 NBA Draft. He has averaged 23.1 points, 7.2 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.1 steals and 0.7 blocks per game while shooting 46.0% from the field, 37.5% from three-point range and 84.4% from the free-throw line. He has been named to five All-Star Teams and four All-NBA Teams while winning the 2023-24 NBA championship. The Celtics star has received MVP votes in four seasons, including top-six finishes in each of the past three years.

Jayson Tatum has had an incredible first half of the year in 2024. The five-time All-Star was able to win his first championship as the Boston Celtics defeated the Dallas Mavericks in five games last month. At the onset of July, he was rewarded for his strong play throughout his seven-year career.

The Celtics and Tatum agreed to a five-year, $315 million contract extension that is the largest deal in NBA history. NBA.com shared details of the deal, stating:

Per multiple reports, the five-year deal is worth up to $315 million, making Tatum the newest member of the NBA’s $300 million club. The new pact will begin with the 2025-26 season and keep the five-time All-Star in Boston through 2029-30 season. The deal includes a player option and a trade kicker, per reports. [h/t NBA.com]
