The Dallas Mavericks are in control of their series against the Oklahoma City Thunder as they are now up 2-1 in the series after getting blown out in game one. The Mavericks found a way to get it done in game two on the road, and then they got a home win in game three to go up 2-1. If they can get a win in game four, they are going to be sitting pretty. Dallas is in a great spot, but their star, Luka Doncic, has been challenged this series by Lu Dort.
Lu Dort has done a great job defending Luka Doncic so far in this series and he is making life difficult on him. Doncic is the best player for the Mavericks, and Dort has done his job of limiting his big moments. The Mavericks are still winning the series, however, but the Thunder are happy with how Dort is playing.
“It’s the combination of his physical profile and his lateral quickness,” Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault said, according to an article from NBA.com. “He really moves incredibly well laterally for somebody that size. And then you add the fact that he’s relentless as a competitor. He’s a punching bag. You can screen him hard and it doesn’t impact his next pursuit. That’s why he’s a great defensive player. The thing about him is he just keeps going.”
Lu Dort has done a great job slowing down Luka Doncic in this series, but it hasn’t been enough to win them games. Oklahoma City has to find a way to get in game four to even up the series and avoid a 3-1 hole.
