The Golden State Warriors selected Klay Thompson 11th overall in the 2011 NBA Draft. While he has spent his entire 13-year career with the franchise, the two sides are reportedly nearing a split. His father Mychal Thompson, who spent parts of five seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers, winning two titles, made it clear where he hopes his son lands.

In response to a fan who shared they are hoping he signs with the Lakers, the elder Thompson responded:

Me too 🙏🏽🏀

He responded to another fan who suggested that Thompson joining Los Angeles would bring balance to the basketball world, stating:

Sounds right to ME

Mychal Thompson has spent the past 21 seasons as the Lakers radio color commentator. While Los Angeles is among several suitors that are interested in Klay Thompson, his father has made it clear where he is hoping to see him suit up.

Klay Thompson and the Golden State Warriors appear to be headed to a split. The four-time NBA champion is reportedly intrigued by the idea of joining the Los Angeles Lakers. Brad Turner of The Los Angeles Times shared the news, tweeting:

Sources: Klay Thompson is intrigued about playing with the Lakers and LeBron James, provided he re-signs with the Lakers. Thompson plans on talking with the Lakers, as well as Dallas.

Reports have emerged that Thompson could be willing to accept the mid-level exception to join the Lakers. He averaged 17.9 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 0.6 steals and 0.5 blocks in 29.7 minutes per game last season. The five-time All-Star shot 43.2% from the field, 38.7% from three-point range and 92.7% from the free-throw line.
