The NBA Summer League continued on Saturday, July 13, as 16 of the 30 teams were in action. Young players throughout the league are looking to play their way onto NBA rosters, make a case for more minutes, or simply get reps under their belt. Take a look at some of the top performers below.
Top performers from Saturday’s NBA Summer League action
Jaime Jaquez Jr., Miami Heat
Jaime Jaquez Jr. had a big game as the Miami Heat beat the Boston Celtics 119-114. He finished with 29 points, 11 rebounds, five assists and one steal while shooting 10-18 from the field and 9-11 from the free-throw line.
Brandon Miller, Charlotte Hornets
Brandon Miller’s inclusion on the Charlotte Hornets‘ NBA Summer League roster was somewhat of a surprise. He played well, however, as they toppled the New York Knicks 94-90. He had 23 points, eight rebounds and two assists while shooting 7-16 from the field, 5-10 from three-point range and 4-4 from the free-throw line.
MarJon Beauchamp, Milwaukee Bucks
MarJon Beauchamp had a big game despite the Milwaukee Bucks falling 96-89 to the Chicago Bulls. He scored 22 points, adding five rebounds, five assists, four steals and one block. He shot 7-18 from the field, 2-7 from three-point range and 6-7 from the free-throw line.
Nick Smith Jr., Charlotte Hornets
Nick Smith Jr. was yet another standout from the Charlotte Hornets’ victory over the New York Knicks. He added 24 points, five rebounds, four assists and one steal while shooting 9-17 from the field, 4-9 from three-point range and 2-2 from the free-throw line.
Stephon Castle, San Antonio Spurs
Stephon Castle helped lead the San Antonio Spurs to an 83-77 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers. He finished with 22 points, five rebounds, four assists and one steal. He shot 8-21 from the field, 2-6 from three-point range and 4-5 from the free-throw line.
Cody Williams, Utah Jazz
Cody Williams helped the Utah Jazz defeat the Dallas Mavericks 90-89. He had 21 points, three rebounds and four assists while shooting 9-15 from the field and 3-6 from three-point range.
Duane Washington, New York Knicks
Duane Washington had a big game despite the New York Knicks falling 94-90 to the Charlotte Hornets. He scored 26 points, adding three rebounds and one steal. He shot 8-18 from the field, 4-8 from three-point range and 6-8 from the free-throw line.
Ricky Council IV, Philadelphia 76ers
Ricky Council IV led all scorers as the Philadelphia 76ers beat the Detroit Pistons 94-81. He had 24 points, six rebounds and two steals while shooting 7-17 from the field, 1-6 from three-point range and 9-9 from the free-throw line.
