The defending champs are no longer in the playoffs. The Denver Nuggets fell at home in game seven on Sunday against the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Nuggets led by 20 in the game, but the Timberwolves found a way to come back and get the win. It was a great series. Minnesota took the first two games in Denver, but the Nuggets rattled off three straight wins after that to take a series lead. It looked like they were going to win it, but the Timberwolves had other plans.

“That was a hell of a series,” Nuggets head coach Michael Malone said after the loss, according to an article from NBA.com. “They gave us all we could handle, and they wound up winning Game 7 on our court, which is a tough one to swallow. We’ll be back.”

The Nuggets will have a different mentality for next season as they won’t be the defending champs anymore. Jamal Murray said after the game that they will be back to being a hunter.

“It’s back to being the hunter,” Murray said. “It’s back to fighting for something with a different type of edge.”

Nikola Jokic had a huge game for the Nuggets on Sunday as he finished with 35 points, but it wasn’t enough. He gave credit to Minnesota after the game.

“I think the team who wins is the better team,” Jokic said. “You have a best-of-seven series, the team that wins is the better team.”

Now, the Nuggets are done, and the Timberwolves are moving on to the Western Conference Finals to take on the Dallas Mavericks.
