OG Anunoby has been ruled out of Game 4 of the New York Knicks‘ second-round series against the Indiana Pacers. The seventh-year forward left Game 2 with a left hamstring strain with 3:27 remaining the third quarter. He did not return to the game and missed Game 3.
The Knicks were able to jump out to a 2-0 lead, however, Indiana picked up a victory with Anunoby sidelined. In eight postseason games, he has averaged 16.4 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1.0 steals and 1.1 blocks per game. He is shooting 49.5% from the field, 39.5% from three-point range and 61.5% from the free-throw line.
Anunoby had traveled to Indianapolis with the team, receiving treatment on his hamstring multiple times a day. New York will look to take a 3-1 series lead in his absence on Sunday.
OG Anunoby doubtful to return in Game 5
In addition to remaining sidelined for Game 4, OG Anunoby is unlikely to play in Tuesday’s Game 5. Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN shared the news while speaking on NBA Countdown, stating:
OG Anunoby is getting treatment on that left hamstring two, three times a day right now. He’s in Indianapolis with the Knicks, but I’m told there has not been enough progress yet to think that his return is likely in Game 5 on Tuesday.
Wojnarowski added that there is some hope that Anunoby can return in Game 6, which will take place on Friday. New York’s roster has been depleted throughout the postseason – particularly in the frontcourt. Julius Randle, Mitchell Robinson and Bojan Bogdanovic all remain sidelined indefinitely.
