Patrick Beverley played a key role in the Milwaukee Bucks extending their first-round series against the Indiana Pacers to Game 6. His strong play did not carry over as his team was sent home on Thursday night. He finished with just six points, two rebounds and five assists in 40 minutes. The 12th-year veteran shot 3-11 from the field and 0-3 from three-point range in the 120-98 loss.

Upon being removed from the game with 2:32 left to play, Beverley was involved in an altercation with Pacers fans. Beverley appeared to throw a ball into the crowd and hit a woman in the head unintentionally. He followed that up with a second throw that hit the fan his initial throw seemed to be intended for.

Beverley’s rough night did not end there, however, as it carried over into the locker room. During his postgame press conference, he interrupted a reporter to ask ESPN producer Malinda Adams – who had yet to ask a question – if she subscribes to his podcast. When she responded that she did not, he claimed she could not interview him and continued to focus on her until she eventually left the interview area.

Charles Barkley rips Patrick Beverley for throwing a ball at fans

Charles Barkley called Patrick Beverley out for throwing a ball into the stands. Speaking on Inside the NBA, the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer claimed:

He’s going to get suspended. He hit that lady in the head. It don’t matter who he was trying to hit. You can’t hit no lady. Ever. Listen, I’ve done stupid stuff and I got criticized. That’s just wrong. He’s going to get suspended for that and that’s going to be a good one, too, because he didn’t do it once. He did it twice.

Beverley responded to the incident on X, formerly known as Twitter:

He later added that he has to be better:

It is unclear how the league will handle the incident. Beverley is set to enter unrestricted free agency this offseason. It remains to be seen if it will affect his market.
