Patrick Beverley played on a minimum contract during the 2023-24 season, which he split between the Philadelphia 76ers and Milwaukee Bucks. The 12th-year guard averaged 6.2 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 0.6 steals and 0.4 blocks per game. He shot 41.7% from the field, 33.7% from three-point range and 82.2% from the free-throw line.
Beverley, who is set to enter unrestricted free agency this summer, revealed that he is looking for a bigger contract. Speaking on his self-titled podcast, he stated:
Obviously, I want to stay with Milwaukee. I want to see what goes here, but I also played well enough in the playoffs to get a little bump. That’s the business side of it so whatever happens with that happens.
When asked if he would prefer a bigger contract or going to a contender, Beverley responded:
You’ve got to think how I think. Any team I go to, I’m going to impact the team. Whatever that team is, what it was to start, turn that into a playoff team and when you get to the playoffs, anything can happen.
Beverley and the Bucks were eliminated by the Indiana Pacers in the first round of the postseason. In six games, he averaged 8.2 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 5.5 apg, 1.0 spg and 0.7 bpg on 41.0/36.4/86.7 shooting splits. His market remains unclear with free agency about a month and a half away.
Patrick Beverley will serve a suspension to begin next season
Patrick Beverley will begin next season by serving a four-game suspension, the NBA announced on Thursday. The league cited the veteran guard throwing a ball at fans and an ‘inappropriate interaction’ with a reporter. The incidents both took place during the Milwaukee Bucks’ 120-98 season-ending loss to the Indiana Pacers.
Beverley was involved in an altercation with fans upon exiting the game with 2:32 left to play. He threw a ball into the crowd and unintentionally hit a woman in the head. He followed that up with a second throw that hit the fan who appeared to be the target of his initial throw.
During his post-game press conference, Beverley interrupted a reporter to ask ESPN producer Malinda Adams – who had yet to ask a question – if she subscribes to his podcast. When she responded that she did not, he claimed she could not interview him and continued to focus on her until she eventually left the interview area.
It is unclear what impact the suspension – or Beverley’s actions – will have on his free agent market. Free agency is set to begin on June 30 at 6 p.m. ET.
