Paul George has agreed to a four-year, $212 million contract with the Philadelphia 76ers. Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN broke the news early Monday morning, tweeting:
BREAKING: Free agent F Paul George has agreed on a four-year, $212 million maximum contract with the Philadelphia 76ers, sources tell ESPN. George committed in a meeting with Sixers officials and returns East to join Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey in pursuit of an NBA title.
George and his agent Aaron Mintz of CAA met with Sixers officials including owner Josh Harris, Daryl Morey, Elton Brand and legend Julius Erving in LA. PG agreed on a deal that includes a player option, sources said.
George leaves the Los Angeles Clippers after a five-year stint that fell well short of expectations. Despite teaming up with Kawhi Leonard and a strong supporting cast, they were unable to reach the NBA Finals for the first time in franchise history. The nine-time All-Star and the franchise were far apart in negotiations. While he was targeting a four-year max contract, he was only offered a three-year deal.
George averaged 22.6 points, 5.2 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.5 steals and 0.5 blocks per game while shooting 47.1% from the field, 41.3% from three-point range and 90.7% from the free-throw line in 2023-24. He was named an All-Star for the third time during his tenure with the Clippers.

Paul George is not the only move the Philadelphia 76ers have made since the beginning of free agency – 6 p.m. ET on June 30. The organization has also agreed to terms with veterans Andre Drummond, Eric Gordon and Kelly Oubre Jr.
Drummond received a two-year, $10 million deal, while Gordon signed a one-year, $3.3 million contract. Oubre Jr. received the largest payday of the trio as he agreed to a two-year, $16.3 million deal. While the 76ers have made the biggest splash of free agency, they have also done a strong job starting to build the rest of their roster. Philadelphia entered the offseason with only Joel Embiid, Paul Reed and Ricky Council IV under contract.
