Brook Lopez has spent the past six seasons as a member of the Milwaukee Bucks, winning a title in 2020-21. His tenure with the organization could be coming to an end, however, as he is reportedly on the trading block.

The San Antonio Spurs are interested in acquiring Lopez, according to Matt Moore of The Action Network, who wrote:

The one-time All-Star is entering the final year of a two-year, $48 million contract extension signed last offseason. He is owed $23 million in 2024-25. Lopez averaged 12.5 points, 5.2 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 0.5 steals and 2.4 blocks per game last season. He shot 48.5% from the field, 36.6% from three-point range and 82.1% from the free-throw line.

Lopez is just one season removed from being named to the NBA All-Defensive First Team and finishing as the Defensive Player of the Year runner up. The Spurs have seemingly been looking to establish a veteran presence around 2023-24 Rookie of the Year Victor Wembanyama. They began free agency by agreeing to a one-year, $11 million contract with Chris Paul. San Antonio finished the 2023-24 season without a single player over the age of 30 years old on their roster.

Brook Lopez garnered plenty of interest on the free agent market last season. The Houston Rockets were among the teams that attempted to persuade him to leave the Milwaukee Bucks. According to Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports, the Rockets warned Lopez that the Bucks could trade him before the end of his contract.

The senior NBA reporter wrote:

League personnel told Yahoo Sports the Bucks are open to reshaping their roster, and they are gauging the trade value for Brook Lopez. Houston, sources said, cautioned Lopez that re-signing with Milwaukee could very well lead to him eventually being traded when the Rockets pursued Lopez in free agency a year ago. [h/t Yahoo Sports]

While Lopez opted to remain in Milwaukee, it appears that he very well could be moved this offseason. In addition to the San Antonio Spurs, the Los Angeles Lakers reportedly have interest in a reunion with the big man.
