Steph Curry was among the 12 players named to Team USA’s roster for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Despite being one of the top players in the league for over a decade, the Golden State Warriors star will make his Olympics debut. He has, however, represented Team USA at the 2010 FIBA World Championships and 2014 FIBA World Cup.

The two-time NBA MVP recently revealed why he chose now to join the Olympic team. Speaking to NBA TV, Curry stated:

2010 and 2014, I played on the World Championship teams. 2012 with the Redeem Team and ’16, I was hurt. 2021, I honestly can’t remember why I didn’t play, but knowing I’m 36 now, I’ve had so many amazing experiences in the league and obviously with international basketball, but this will probably be my last crack at it.

And it’s an amazing honor anytime you get to represent your country playing at the highest level. But that Olympic experience, from everybody that I’ve talked to that’s played before, [they] say there’s nothing like it. Being around the best athletes in the world in all your different sports.

Curry won gold medals in both 2010 and 2014, however, he will look to pick up his first Olympic medal. Team USA are heavy favorites to win their fifth consecutive gold medal – and 17th overall.

Steph Curry named 2023-24 Kia NBA Clutch Player of the Year

Steph Curry continued to play at an elite level in 2023-24 despite being in his 15th NBA season. The four-time NBA champion averaged 26.4 points, 4.5 rebounds, 5.1 assists, 0.7 steals and 0.4 blocks per game while shooting 45.0% from the field, 40.8% from three-point range and 92.3% from the free-throw line.

He added to his trophy room on Thursday as he was named the 2023-24 Kia NBA Clutch Player of the Year, receiving the Jerry West Trophy. Curry led the league in points, field goals made and three-pointers made in the clutch this season. The two-time NBA MVP posted 49.6/45.7/95.1 splits in the clutch. The NBA defines the clutch as the ‘last five minutes of the fourth quarter or overtime with a score differential of five points or less’.
