Tyrese Haliburton and the Indiana Pacers were able to even up the series and steal homecourt from the Milwaukee Bucks with a 125-108 victory on Tuesday. Following the game, the two-time All-Star, who grew up about 90 minutes from Fiserv Forum, told reporters that his brother was called a racial slur by a fan in the stands during Game 1 of the series, stating:

My little brother in the stands the other day was called the N-word so it was important for us as a family to just address that and that was important for us to talk about because that didn’t sit right with anybody in our family. It’s just been important to have my family here right now and my little brother has handled that the right way.

We’ve just done a good job of handling this environment. Obviously, the conversations – it’s friendly during the regular season because I’m the hometown kid – but it’s a little different when you’re visiting in this environment.

A spokesperson for the Bucks addressed the incident, stating that a guest services representative approached a group who were one section over from their seats when one of the individuals shared that the person in front of them used a derogatory word to him. They added that the fan denied the accusation. The series will now head to Indiana, where Game 3 will take place at 5:30 p.m. ET on Friday.

Tyrese Haliburton takes aim at Milwaukee Bucks crowd

Tyrese Haliburton has gotten his first taste of playoff basketball during the first two games of the Indiana Pacers’ first round series with the Milwaukee Bucks. He will get to play in front of his home fans at Gainbridge Fieldhouse for the first time on Friday. When asked about his expectations for Game 3, the two-time All-Star stated:

I’m expecting it to be unbelievable. No doubt about that. I mean, we’ve had regular season crowds better than what we’ve played in these last two games so we expect a great crowd. A lot of people are excited about what’s to come in the series and just the energy in the city right now with everything that’s going on, but especially with us. We’re excited to go.

Haliburton has averaged 10.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 10.0 assists, 1.0 steals and 1.0 blocks per game while shooting 47.1% from the field, 40.0% from three-point range and 50.0% from the free-throw line over the first two games of his postseason career.
